Finding a Motorhome to Hire for Touring the UK Coastline

If you are a person who likes to stay in the United Kingdom for your holiday you may find yourself on the horns of a dilemma. With so many coastal resorts to visit, which one do you go for?

Would it be Blackpool? With its landmark tower, its Golden Mile, its famous illuminations and glorious Pleasure Beach – Blackpool, in the North West of England, is quite easily the UK’s most popular seaside resort. During the summer it is a major entertainment hub, with many of the country’s biggest showbiz names performing variety shows at the Grand Theatre.

On the other hand you may wish to head south to visit Brighton, the larger part of the city of Brighton and Hove, in East Sussex. Whilst its historic Lanes were the only part of the town to survive the attentions of early sixteenth century French raiders, the Marina, the Royal Pavilion and the Palace Pier later came aboard to create a familiar and hugely popular resort down on the southern coast of England.

Back in the north the civil parish and port of Whitby, in Yorkshire, has a rich tourist and maritime heritage. It is where Caedmon, the earliest English poet, resided and where Captain Cook first learned seamanship. A deeply historic centre of fishing and whaling activity, Whitby nonetheless attracts large numbers of holidaymakers and is one of Britain’s most visited coastal resorts. In the summer it hosts the famous Whitby Regatta over three days in August.

The writer’s personal favourite seaside town is Margate in Kent, notwithstanding the effective closure as a holiday venue of the once lovely neighbouring town of Cliftonville, with its long and peaceful Esplanade and its lovely chalk cliffs, pubs, arcades and gift shops.

Of course if you are thinking of booking a hotel or even a modest bed and breakfast you will wish to consider which of these resorts, or of the great many others that have not been mentioned, appeals most to your taste. On the other hand you could hire a motor home or camper van, save on the hotel bills and tour the coastline moving along from one resort to another, enjoying the unique character of each along on your travels.

Finding a camper van to hire is in all likelihood the cheapest and yet most efficient and cost effective way to visit the various resorts along the English coastline. It allows you to stay for as long as you like in any place that takes your fancy, but to move along to someplace else as soon as you feel so inclined.
